Case Study 01 — Mixed-Finish Polish
A steel sports watch with alternating brushed and polished surfaces
Situation
The owner had a steel watch with brushed centre links and polished edge links. Three years of daily wear had left visible scratches on both sections, but the owner was concerned that a single-pass polish would eliminate the brushed texture.
Approach
Each section was masked and treated independently using appropriate abrasives for each finish type. The brushed sections were refinished with directional strokes to preserve the satin texture. The polished sections were brought to a mirror finish separately.
Outcome
The watch was returned with both surfaces restored to their original specification. The owner noted they could see the difference immediately between the two sections — as intended. Completed in 3 working days. Starting price: ฿3,500.
Case Study 02 — Corporate Gifting Batch
Twenty watches for a company's annual recognition programme
Situation
An HR team needed twenty watches engraved with individual names and a company motto, boxed and ready for presentation at an internal awards event. The lead time was three weeks from first contact.
Approach
A single spreadsheet was used to confirm all engraving text in writing before any work began. Each watch was engraved, checked against the confirmed list, packaged, and logged. The HR contact received a completion confirmation one day before the agreed handover date.
Outcome
All twenty watches handed over in presentation-ready condition, on schedule. No errors in engraving. The company has since used Balanza for two further gifting batches. Starting price for this type of order: ฿9,100 per watch.
Case Study 03 — Quartz Seal Failure
A daily quartz watch with a corroded crown thread and degraded gasket
Situation
A customer brought in their everyday quartz watch for a routine cell replacement. Assessment revealed a corroded crown thread and a case-back gasket that had compressed beyond useful life, likely explaining why the watch had fogged internally after swimming.
Approach
The customer was contacted before any additional work proceeded. The crown thread issue and gasket condition were explained clearly. With approval, both were addressed — crown serviced, new gaskets fitted, cell replaced. A pressure test was run on completion.
Outcome
The watch passed the pressure test to its rated specification. The customer collected it in 4 working days with a copy of the test result. The additional work was discussed and approved before the cost was incurred — no surprises at collection. Starting price: ฿12,250.
